I have seen this issue in Airmail also in the non-beta versions.
Typically when I get forwarded email from especially one sender I see the attachements in Airmail 3.5.5 on macOS 10.13.4 as filename.pdf" (note the unmatched, trailing quote).
If I save it I will need to remove it for Preview to want to open the file.
It does not show if I read the email on, Webmail or Airmail on ios.

I have only seen it on PDFs, but then again I mostly deal with PDFs so it could be a coincident.
My account is using IMAP, the server is Cyrus and usually the forwarded mail comes via

Any ideas or suggestions?

I am getting the same thing. It is difficult as I have to assign acrobat as the reader every time to get these files open and it is breaking workflow. Please help.

Is there any update on this? This is still a major pain point in using the app day to day.
