I experience the same issue. The search bar (top-right) area disappears after the app has been open for X hours. If I close Airmail and then re-open it will appear. Kind of a pain and would like to see this fixed.
I have the same issue. This issue has been posted online long time ago. The administrator should pay attention to this problem as without searching function, reading a massive amount of emails is a huge pain. This could lead to the entire app become useless.
Same issue here and it is VERY annoying. I have to dig through emails pretty frequently throughout the day and at least once a day have to save started drafts, star open emails so I remember which I need to address, etc so that I can restart the application.
PLEASE fix this bug. Ive grown accustomed to the interface and otherwise very much like this email platform, but this issue is enough to make me want to switch.

Agreed - this happens all the time to me and it is super annoying. This should be an easy fix, and I agree with the other comment that it makes me want to try out a different email program, even though I have been committed to Airmail for years.

I'm just back to vent again because this is STILL happening pretty frequently. Yesterday, I took a deep breath to calm myself down, then I saved open emails (that I keep open for easy retrieval throughout the day) and drafts restarted the program.
Today, while already having a hectic and beyond crap day, I open the main Airmail screen to quickly find an email from last June that I need to reference, and sure enough, SEARCH BOX IS GONE. I think I saw red. Please, please, please fix this bug.
I'm having this same issue with v3.6.57 on a dual monitor setup. No search bar shows up and using the "Search All Messages" menu item does nothing. Unsure what causes the problem -- but I find that it's missing when I go to search email fairly regularly, and it seems to have just started for me in the last month. Restarting fixes the problem but if I have to restart every time I want to search my messages, that's a dealbreaker... one of the reasons I switched to AirMail is because it had better search functionality than Apple Mail.

Add one more to the chorus - this is an issue for me with 3.6.57 (543) both on a MacBook Pro (13 inch early 2015, High Sierra 10.13.4) with external monitor and on the MacBook by itself. In general the app is slow when switching between inbox menu items (all / drafts / sent mail / search etc) and all too often hangs. Airmail admin folks, please help us here!
I deleted Airmail today and switched to Thunderbird, mostly due to this issue.
I totally understand that software has bugs, but this is critical functionality affecting a very common use case and it looks like all the attention it has received has been a half-hearted attempted to duplicate it and no attempts to fix it.

I'm adding my voice. This has been happening frequently. No, I can't replicate it perfectly. Yes, it does sometimes happen when I'm using an external monitor. Yes, it also happens without an external monitor. Yes, you must quit the program and restart. The search area/box in the top right of the application just vanishes. You don't notice it missing when you're not using it, naturally, so it's not really possible for us (the users/customers) to tell you (dear developer) the moment it happens. I just know when it happens to be missing.
Suggestion: add a "Search bar" in the menu option for "View". If we could just go and mark it for reappearing, or even to create a floating window for searching, I think most of us would cope with this challenge. Closing the app and losing your open emails is indeed problematic. I feel the same as Mike Place and am considering another email app.
