Dangerous amount of I/O operations on SSD

It came to my attention when looking in Activity Monitor.

You can see on the screenshot that Airmail makes 10x the amount of I/O operations than any other app – high writes and reads will severely shorten the lifespan of a SSD.

I can't imagine that a mail client needs to write gigabytes of data daily.

Is this a known issue?

Actually, all my accounts have these two options unchecked, all the time.

I just saw the new version was out, 396, just installed, will report back.

Looks like things are really getting better now. Following is the screenshot after 30 minutes.

Beta 396 seems to be better now indeed. Still over 2GB in about three hours., but that's an improvement already.

I can confirm it's really better now, following is the screenshot after 10 hours. Thanks a lot for your effort, now I can get back to Airmail.

MUCH better. ~200MB writes after being open all day.

Thanks, this fix is very appreciated!

I still see lots of Writing and reading in also the last version, in two hours as much as 10 times that of Apple Mail (both open, using POP accounts).
After a day almost 1 GB and mail 70 Mb!
    That's a HUGE difference!

For me version 3.2.1 official release (November 17th) fixed it! No longer GB of data being written and read. Much better!

Well, after two days very good news: the read/wrtite amount for Airmail 3.2.1 (397) is even less (so better) than for Apple Mail now!
    :-)
